Full of activities. Friday afterwork started with me rushing back from Penang (for work) to attend Style magazine's anniversary bash in Velvet. The theme is Denim and Diamonds. I had no denims on, and obviously not diamonds. Nobody told me the theme, OK? Not my fault!!

Anyway, the place is so full of everyone from the fashion industry. We've got: brand owners and merchandisers, lifestyle people (basically people who tell you how to live cool), photographers, fashion event organisers, fashionistas (these people dress the best) and of course the MODELS. Very 'Glam' event. And we've got free flow of alcohol too (too bad I don't drink) and there's food glorious food. Met a lot of 'glam glam' people.

The 'glam glam' people I was talking about...the models:)

Saturday came late (or is it I woke up late??!!) Went for lunch with dear Candice and bought a pretty looking fish. In case you dunno, I'm very into koi (Japanese carp) fishes. This one is young, very young, but pretty. Small cutie (about 15cm) costed me RM280. This variety is called Shusui. They have all the weirdest names for koi fishes btw. Lost sight of it 5 minutes after I threw it into my pond. Hope it's not eaten. But these fishes grow fast, with luck, it should be more than 50cm and weighing more than 300 times how much it weighs now in a years time. Maybe I'll take a picture again in a year's time to show.

My latest little cutie. Luck has it that I didn't get to attend the competition as I had to attend another close friend's dinner. Well, looking at humans hurting each other makes me uncomfortable anyways. But I did go to the after party which was held in Zouk (my face is starting to look familiar there:)) Met some fantastic people there too. The police will then take pictures of the damage to your vehicle

Then police will make a judgement on who's at fault, fine the driver at fault and produce a report the next day (usually)

You will need the police's report to make an insurance claim. You will also need the person's insurance policy number to get a claim too (or if you're at fault, other driver will need your policy number)

Go to a panel workshop and let the nightmare begin. No car for a week or weeks...

REMEMBER, DO NOT:

Be hassled by police or any towing company touts into sending it to a workshop of their choice (unless you're dead drunk, of course)

There's no need to provide the other driver with your ID or business card. It's at your discretion whether you should be nice enough (or not) to do that. There's no Regulation saying yoummust provide ID to the other driver.

In fact, there's no need to stop. If you feel there's a need to make a police report for insurance claim, by all means, just drive to the nearest police station. There are also no Regulation stating that you have to come down from your vehicle to negotiate. You can proceed to make a police report in 24 hours. This is definitely sound advise for any females involved in accidents. With such frustratingly high sexual crime rates in Malaysia, definitely smart move!!

Happy driving!

Flower Power

I'm not afraid to show my feminine side. I've came to love flowers. Yep, those colourful plants that I thought was always a waste of money. (I still think it is, when given to some girl just to express love) But when it is used for house decoration, I must say, the effect is moving. I've always think my house has a nice little garden. But this week, my mom decided to but more flowers to add colours to our cosy little house. Organised by KLUE magazine. It is effectively, a showcase of local indie bands. The atmosphere was what I expect it to be: fun, exciting and carnival like. But, unexpectedly, something a mark in my heart. It is an award giving event held at the same place before urbanscapes begun. It's called the Blue Chilli Award. It's an award given to young individuals who's made tremendous contributions to their respective industries. There are directors, animation creators, producers and social activists. The winner is a Mr. Raj. His work, I feel too, is the most deserving. He's currently in Science of Life Systems; a cause dedicated to providing underpriviledged and marginalized children free boarding and education with networks in Cambodia, East Timor and Malaysia. He deserves respect from all of us for the sacrifices he made to the cause:)

Mr. Raj here with Swee Yeong. Choon Yew the blogger? You've gotta be kidding??!! But then, however, I guess I too have lots of things to rant, complain, express that I'm not quite sure who'd like to listen. Well, I guess, that's good enough reason to start a blog.

I'm not a chronic complainer, but how I see things work in this country, there're shit loads of things to complain about!!!??? There's the price of petrol now, there's the seemingly controversial handling of some "I'd rather not mention" court cases, etc etc.... The list can go on and on and on....

And about expressing, now, I'd see myself as an expressor ( is there such a term??). I'm pretty straight about a lot of things. If I like something, I'd tell, and if I'd see something I don't like I'd sure as hell say too.

Well, it's been speculated today that many petrol pumps in my beloved Malaysia might be closed or will only accept cash in protest. This will happen for four days or maybe more. Commuters accuse the petrol dealers as heartless businessmen to maintain their profits. But that's not how I see it. I don't own a petrol station, but I know for sure that the margin (which is government controlled, btw) is very slim. So, if a motorist uses credit cards, the relevant bank will charge a 1% admin fee to the poor dealer. When the price of petrol has increased dramatically, the 1% now is RM 0.027 for petrol and RM 0.0258 for diesel. And considering their slim margin, that's a big cut from their profit (if there's any left).

And from a friend who owns a petrol station, I've been told that most of his products (petrol and diesel) are being sold at cost price, after minus operating costs, if credit cards are being used. I know motorists are already frustrated enough with the price increase, and hence this will frustrate them even further. But I'm sure these petrol station operators have family to feed and bills to pay too. I totally understand on their need to protest. I think there are other ways the government can cut down on their fund expenditure. They can pressure the banks to reduce the admin charges for processing credit card sales in petrol stations for example??
